He listened, and he couldn’t deny anything his captain had said. It was true, while his kidou was practically hopeless, and he didn’t expect to improve much in that field even with training, it wouldn’t hurt to work on some other things. Though he wouldn’t have expected this was what he had planned to bring up here and now. “Well, yeah..” Renji answered, though it was true and he would admit it, it was slightly embarrassing to have it brought up like so. “I guess I could work on it a little.” He finished, looking down as they walked.
“I only wish to prepare you, Renji,” he said, his tone a bit more serious. The war with Aizen had awoken Soul Society to its own vulnerability, and the threat had not passed yet. With another conflict looming on the horizon, and new enemies appearing everyday, it was about time the Gotei 13, its division, and most importantly its members, begin to take their training more seriously. After all, Renji was one of few people who had achieved bankai below the rank of Captain. Should a vacancy arise, and he had a feeling it would, his Lieutenant would be high on the list of replacements.
“Improvement is going to take more than a little attention.”
He knew it would take more than a little attention, he knew he wold have to work hard to improve. With a new threat against the Soul Society, the only thing they could do was train harder to assure victory, or at least everyone’s safety. “Yeah,” he responded. If more training meant less paperwork then Renji was certainly up for the task, although he himself wasn’t too thrilled about the kidou training. He had had enough bad experience with it in the past to have a reason for giving up, maybe if he worked at it enough it would at least stop blowing up on him.
“Are you still sure you want me practicing Kidou..? The damage still hasn’t been repaired since the last time, yanno…” He asked, a little unsure that his captain knew just how terrible he was in the field.
